WORK 
#artworkist: aspiring & inspired in the avante garde. 
I am a modern art junkie, currently painting in abstract expressionism to share personal stories which preserve histories, testimonies, and lives. I construct paintings steeped with emotional hilarity, idyllic memories, and deep threads of religious & contemporary iconography. My paintings draw upon symbolic root origins, often synapsing to connect a string of analogous memories which comprise a story.

Despite an affinity for the arts, I graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 2002 from Utah Valley University.  Working my way through the retail-mall-circuit to call centers, from a program instructor in a state prison to a work-at-home-mom. 

ART
My formative years were filled with art, gently nurtured by the artistic hands of my mother. Supportive encouragement with reams of paper, and kitchen-table art lessons in shading, perspective, and figure drawing. As the eldest of 6, in a highly conservative, lovingly hectic household, it now seems inevitable that my emotional escapism was story-telling while sketching. I also took art classes from my formative years through college, with some continuing education classes speckled in.   
Up until a couple of years ago, I was primarily a "closet painter". Submerging my inner artist to a regular drowning in the sea of life. Consistently subterfuging my burgeoning creative bliss to every role except that of my inner artist.
Not quite the prestigious CV that an aspiring painter aims for. But, I will honestly claim my faults & procrastinations. My free-spirited, sometimes-semi-sometimes-non-conformist, #rocknrollsoul, #mommaintheburbs will circumvent a scapegoating, in exchange for commending my journey by cultivating a new leaf. In this season of my life in which I will put down new roots in my artsy realm with the promising sentiments of "all the changing seasons of my life, maybe I'll get it right next time."-Axl Rose

HOME 
Even during the seasons of my life where I wasn't "producing" artwork, the creative build-up would invariably converge and expel in some outlet form. Years of working to fashion artful moments and memories, staged with carefully tended details in home decor, fashion, gardening, cosmetics, meals, and get-togethers comprise the core of my experience (only handfuls of which I have photographic preservation.) Moving forward I will post to the Instagram @workarthome. 

I live in Alabama with my husband Johnathan, our two sons, and baby daughter. I work at home and am discovering the southern sweetness in our blessed joys and busy strains of the daily grind.
